The BFG is an upcoming 2016 Americanfantasy adventure film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, along withFrank Marshall and Sam Mercer, and written by Melissa Mathison

It is based on the novel of the same name by Roald Dahl, the second adaption of the book following the 1989 direct-to-television film, and the first theatrical adaption.


The film stars Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant, a runt and avid dreamer, who kidnaps the orphan Sophie, played by Ruby Barnhill, as to accompany his loneliness and to help him on a mission; additional roles are played by Penelope WiltonRebecca HallBill HaderRafe Spall and Jemaine Clement.


Principal photography on the film began on March 23, 2015. The film is a co-production between Walt Disney PicturesDreamWorks,Amblin EntertainmentReliance EntertainmentWalden Media, and The Kennedy/Marshall Company

The film is scheduled to be released in the Disney Digital 3-D and RealD 3D and standard theatrical formats on July 1, 2016 through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

The Jungle Book 

is a 2016 American fantasyadventure film directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by Justin Marks and produced by Walt Disney Pictures



The film stars and introduces Neel Sethi asMowgli, an orphaned human boy who, guided by his animal guardians, sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the threatening Shere Khan, and features the voices of Bill MurrayBen KingsleyIdris Elba,Lupita Nyong'oScarlett Johansson,Giancarlo Esposito and Christopher Walken.


Favreau, Marks, and producer Brigham Taylor developed the film's story as a balance between Disney's animated adaptation and Kipling's original works, adapting elements from both into the film. Principal photography commenced in 2014 with filming taking place entirely in Los Angeles. The film required extensive use of computer-generated imageryto portray the animals and settings.[7] The Jungle Book was released in North America inDisney Digital 3DRealD 3DIMAX 3D, D-Boxas well as premium large formats on April 15, 2016. 

The film received critical acclaim and was commercially successful, with a worldwide box office gross of $294 million
